Yesterday I sold all my WEG shares (B3: WEGE3, OTC US: WEGZY).
Quickly, for those who still don't know WEG:
Founded in 1961 in Brazil, WEG is a global electric-electronic equipment company, operating mainly in the capital goods sector with solutions in electric machines, automation and paints for several sectors, including infrastructure, steel, pulp and paper, oil and gas, mining , among many others.
WEG stands out in innovation by constantly developing solutions to meet the major trends in energy efficiency, renewable energy and electric mobility. With manufacturing units in 12 countries and present in more than 135 countries, the company has more than 36,900 employees worldwide.
WEG's net revenue reached BRL 29.9 billion in 2022, 50.3% from external markets.
Its business areas are divided as follows.
Industrial Electro-Electronic Equipment
Energy Generation, Transmission and Distribution (GTD)
Commercial and Appliance Motors
Paints and Varnishes
Ownership structure:
Basically it is a company controlled by 3 families: Voigt, Silva and Werninghaus.
Due to its historical financial performance of high growth with good profitability, high degree of innovation and excellent market positioning, it is definitely a quality stock.
Going back to my story, I made a rational decision, not an emotional one.
What my rationale said: “You did your homework, did the analysis and came to the conclusion that it was better to sell”
What my emotional state said: “It's the best company on the stock exchange. With each result, it surprises the market, always exceeding expectations. It is the best company for 'buy and hold' in Brazil”.
Well, I don't know about you, but I'd rather be rational than emotional with my money.
And my biggest successes on the stock exchange were with decisions that left me with a bit of an upset stomach. The numbers ordered one thing to be done, but the screaming of the market, another.
I'll tell you in detail why I sold all of my WEG position.
I'll show you all the analysis I did that led to this very counterintuitive decision to sell the best company on the Brazilian Stock Exchange.
Let's go.
